World Bicycle Day This year, on World Bicycle Day, we notice that more colleagues are cycling to work! We are pleased to see an increase of up 25% in bicycle use compared to the same period last year. What explains this trend? 🚲 Our continuous efforts to improve the cycling infrastructure and signage by Provincie Vlaams-Brabant 🚲 Awareness campaigns conducted, together with our airport community, to promote cycling as a sustainable transport option and to encourage employees to commute by bike. 🚲 A bike community has also been created to support all cyclists along their routes and help them find cycling buddies. Inspired on this World Bicycle Day? You can still join the Stargate Bike Rides WhatsApp community : https://lnkd.in/eJ6wqDNG

As bee populations continue to decline, Brussels Airport installed beehives on its grounds a few years ago. Initially, employees with certified beekeeping knowledge took care of the hives but since last year, we’ve partnered with Nectarist professional beekeepers, to support and expand the initiative. 🐝 This collaboration ensures expert care for the bees and a high-quality honey harvest. Thanks to this, 250 personalized jars of honey will be produced this year. 🍯 Employees can also take part in guided harvesting sessions with Nectarist raising awareness around local biodiversity in a hands-on and meaningful way.

A first in history! Today, we had the honour of welcoming three rare golden snub-nosed monkeys. These endangered animals travelled with Sichuan Airlines from China to #brusselsairport and then on to Pairi Daiza, as part of an international conservation initiative. This was made possible through a unique partnership with the China Wildlife Conservation Association. Our Animal Care & Inspection Centre ensured a smooth and safe arrival with the highest standards of animal care and logistics. A milestone for both biodiversity preservation and also the strength of cross-border collaboration in protecting vulnerable species. #wearebrusselsairport
